LEI programs are taught at a quick and exciting pace by a team of teachers who coordinate their lesson plans by separating listening, speaking, reading and writing skills into 4 or more lessons daily. An exit exam is administered to all students to determine their progress. Those who attend at least 80% of their classes are awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

Teaching Materials

A placement test is administered to all incoming students to determine their level of English proficiency in four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The exam consists of multiple-choice questions, writing samples and an oral interview. It is administered at the school every Monday at 9:00 am following a welcome breakfast. Afterwards, the Testing Coordinator assesses scores and places students in their appropriate class levels. The curriculum is organized into weekly self-contained modules allowing students to advance to the next level of proficiency upon acquiring the necessary skills. Tape recorders, computer facilities, CD-ROMs and microphones are available for our students, who are welcome to study at the school after classes at no extra charge.

Accommodation

Host Family
LEI places a strong emphasis on finding caring, enthusiastic people to host our students. Homes are carefully selected and each student is asked to complete a homestay evaluation form so that we can monitor our Homestay Program on a regular basis. Most of our homes are within 5 miles of the school. Students are responsible for their own transportation. They can walk, rent bikes, rent cars or use public transportation. Students are provided with an information sheet describing their hosts before arrival. Every effort is made to accommodate any special requests. Since summer is our high season and homes are at a premium, early bookings are recommended.
HotelA variety of hotels are offered as an alternative to our Homestay Program. Various locations accommodate the many different needs of our students. Hotels are close to shopping malls, restaurants and movie theaters. Rates are per room for single or double occupancy. Students or couples booking together can share rooms.

Hotel rates vary depending on the season and range from economy to deluxe. Please see our Accommodation Fee Schedule for exact rates.

It should be noted that Language Exchange International makes every effort to secure the lowest rates
possible from hotels. However, it is possible that hotels might sometimes offer special promotions to the local market which may reflect rates lower than those offered to us under contract.
