Sprachzentrum TANDEM in Göttingen, Niedersachsen Sprachzentrum TANDEM Göttingen was founded in 1982. In the three decades since, thousands of students have enjoyed the pleasant learning environment. The modern and creative methods of the professional teachers (all of whom hold a degree in teaching German) has been a key to the success of our students.
The Institute
The institue is located in an old building in the historical center of Göttingen, which suffered little damage during the war and is very well preserved. The railway station is only a few minutes walk away.
There are computers for the students to use during breaks and in the afternoons (and sometimes as part of the classes). The school also hosts a small student library with contemporary German literature, which the students can read or borrow to take home. Learn more..
Programmes
Sprachzentrum TANDEM Göttingen offers courses for every need. Besides our intensive and summer courses, we have teenager courses specially targeting younger learners, TestDaF courses to prepare students for the special requirements of this crucial test (needed to enrole into a German university) and many options for individual tuition or even smaller groups than our regular ones. These special courses are designed to meet the students' demands, whether scientific German, business German, literature or whatever they can think of.
Certificates and Diplomas
Sprachzentrum TANDEM Göttingen is a certified test center for TestDaF, the proficiency test that is required for entry into any German university.
Teaching Materials
The materials used in the classroom are decided on depending on the needs of the students. Besides the numerous books in our library, we also use many self-made teaching materials which have proven their effectiveness over many years and which are constantly updated.
Methodology
At the beginning, we focus on increasing the students' abilities to communicate in everyday situations, helping them to stand their ground as soon as possible. This is achieved by a broad mix of playful learning activities, together with the full immersion into the German language from very early on. The groups are always small (up to 10 students) to guarantee that no one is lost in the crowd and left behind.
Social and Cultural Activities
Our summer courses include an attractive afternoon programme, with activities such as various sports, museum visits, book readings, gaming, theater and movie nights, and much more. Göttingen has a rich cultural scene, and we strive to pick the best for our students.

Excursions and Visits
Göttingen is in the heart of Germany. Nearly every part of Germany can be reached in a weekend trip. We often organize trips to Goslar, an ancient imperial town at the foot of the Harz mountains, to some of the nearby castle ruins, and many other attractive destinations. We also offer help in organizing the students' weekend trips.
