Meridian School of English in Plymouth Established in 1979, Meridian Schools of English offer a wide range of standard and intensive courses for Adults and Juniors. Meridian operates its two English schools in two distinctly remarkable costal locations: Plymouth in the South West and Portsmouth, south of London. Our British Council Accredited language schools, being within the academic and cultural centres of the cities of Plymouth and Portsmouth, each situated on the southern coast of England and hosting over 30,000 resident students during the academic year, provide a rich and exciting cultural immersion experience for all our English language school students.

English language exam preparation courses:
For adult students wishing to move on to university after their course, we also offer an IELTS preparation class, helping students with their academic English and helping them to prepare for their upcoming exams. The IELTS examination is the most widely recognized exam for entering a UK university and is recognized around the world.
The examination courses can either be on a one-to-one basis (classes in the afternoons or evenings) or as part of the General English Course for Adults. Please note that group preparation classes are subject to availability, but one/one classes are available every month.

Social and Cultural Activities
For further immersion in the language, culture, and society, a wide range of social and cultural activities are organised by our schools, activities vary weekly. The programmes are designed to provide participants with ample opportunity to learn and use English and be a part of a comprehensive learning experience. The overall aim of the programme is to instil the linguistic, practical, and cultural aspects of the English language give students the opportunity to meet other participants and experience other aspects of the British way of life. Events are timetabled throughout the year and occur at evenings and weekends.
Accommodation
All our accommodation is carefully chosen and monitored to ensure that high standards are maintained and that you will be comfortable and happy while at our schools. We keep in close touch with all our accommodation providers and students to ensure quality.
The accommodation is selected before you arrive. If you book a programme at short notice, the accommodation officers will naturally do their best to find the accommodation type you require, but we would advise you to book your accommodation at least four weeks before the date of your arrival to guarantee the type you require.
Our Accommodation Manager will be pleased to arrange accommodation for you - Host families, student residence for summer junior programmes.
