Programmes
Students can learn English for general, business, academic or examination purposes.
They can do general English in the mornings - or add afternoon classes: for conversation, business English, academic English for school/university, or 1-1 training. There are also closed-group business English classes in the mornings. We offer FCE, CAE and CPE exam preparation classes (groups) and IELTS, TOEFL and GMAT preparation (1-1).
Certificates and Diplomas
All students are assessed on arrival and given a certificate stating their level and course duration and content on departure. Certificates reflect international levels so can be used worldwide.
Teaching Materials
Published by inlingua International for its schools worldwide, the materials encourage
confident communication in speaking and writing, and develop reading and listening skills, as well as grammar and vocabulary.
All materials are designed according to the international standards of the Common European Framework and ALTE – the Association of Language Testers in Europe, ensuring the highest quality and most up-to-date training.
Methodology
Students learn to use English confidently and competently in class and out – as effective communication in their environments is vital. Classes are fun and involving – but challenging too, with a lot of discussion in pairs and groups on material from international course books, the internet and specialist magazines. Blended learning can be integrated into courses, and students are encouraged to be competent, confident, independent learners, able to operate effectively in their specific situation.
Social and Cultural Activities
inlingua has two social organisers who arrange a variety of outings and activities on a weekly basis. Students play volleyball on the beach, for a sunset cruise in Table Bay or walk up Table Mountain.
Take part in a drumming circle, experience the townships – craft markets, projects and restaurants, visit some of the almost 400 wine estates and enjoy our wine – with food, chocolate, nougat, ice-cream – or on its own.
Accommodation
There is a wide choice of accommodation close to inlingua – hotels, guest houses and homestays. All recommended options are checked by the Student Co-ordinator. It is very important for students to be happy where they are staying, or the whole experience will be spoiled. Free airport transfers on arrival are included in some packages, depending on the flight time. There is a choice of shared or private bathroom in homestays, and dinner can be added to the bed and breakfast option.
Excursions and Visits
We have partnered with specific tour operators who offer the best value and choice of trips and tours. Do the “must-see” sites - visit Robben island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so long, go to Cape Point or the Winelands. Or go abseiling or surfing, horde-riding or parachuting… The Cape has so much to do – let us know your interests and we’ll help you make those dreams come true! We can also organise longer trips for you - to Addo, Kruger, Namibia or Botswana
