Teaching Qualifications and Experience

I am a Communication Skills trainer and teacher with over 7 years' experience in teaching English as a Second Language to nationals of Tanzania, Congo, China, Brazil, Haiti, Venezuela, Cuba, Chile and India among others. I have also taught French and Spanish to adults and teenagers, and spent 14 years as a radio and TV journalist in Jamaica.
I hold a BA degree in Linguistics, a MA in Communication Studies and a graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (University of Calgary).

Hobbies and Interests

I love sewing, reading, playing the guitar, spending time with my family, walking on the beach, touring the countryside and volunteering in outreach programmes.

Accommodation

The student's bedroom has a double bed, desk and chair and closet. There is also an en suite bathroom with shower and tub which is solely for the student's use.

Excursions and Local Attractions

Our home 'Fern Forest Bungalow', is located in Fern Gully, a protected rainforest area housing at least 200 different varieties of ferns. It's just 5 minutes from the tourist resort area of Ocho Rios which is world renown for its white sand beaches, rivers and waterfalls, including the Caribbean's number 1 tourist attraction Dunn's River Falls. Nearby activities include bobsledding or zip lining down Mystic Mountain, tubing along the Blue Hole River, White River rafting , adventure tours at Chukka Cove and much more. Our property itself offers nature walks and breathtaking views from the hilltop of the sun rising above the Caribbean sea.
