Huntington Beach, USA: We are a mile from the beaches in "Surf City" California, with some of the best weather in the world. Palm trees and waves create the perfect, relaxed atmosphere to immerse yourself in English!
Your room is upstairs, next to ours, in a 6 bedroom house. Our upstairs rooms include a private kitchen, living room and bathroom, and a large balcony off both rooms overlooking the pool and jacuzzi. The neighborhood is beautiful, safe, and near restaurants and shops. Let's explore it together!

Teaching Qualifications and Experience
I have hosted foreign students in my home for over 20 years, and have even been a homestay student living with homestay families in other countries for over 2 years (Senegal and Mexico). I taught English in Japan for a year, and tutored English for several years in the USA. I love to travel, and believe living in a country is the best way to see it, and living with locals is the best way to learn a language!
I have also worked as a writer, editor, proofreader and publisher over the years, and love exploring language.
Hobbies and Interests
Travel is my favorite hobby. I love learning about other cultures, and seeing the natural beauty of our earth. I enjoy hiking, walking, kayaking. I enjoy reading, which is really like traveling and learning about people! I love spending time with my family and friends, and making new friends.
Excursions and Local Attractions
Huntington Beach is between Los Angeles and San Diego, with the widest sandy beaches I have ever seen. We are not far from Disneyland, Universal Studios, Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. There are many beautiful parks, restaurants and shops nearby. The bay has kayaks for rent, and you will see many kinds of birds.
We also have a house in the local mountain town of Idyllwild, See RootStoneLodge.com. We go to Idyllwild and San Diego often. We also have beach cruiser bikes, and it is a 1 mile easy bike ride to the local beaches, with miles of beach boardwalks to ride on. Balboa Island, Laguna Beach, and Sunset Beach are some of our favorite local beaches. We also love to have a bonfire on the beach, and roast our dinner and dessert on the open fire. My husband loves to fish on the coast, and I love to find sea shells and beach glass, and take photos of the beautiful sunsets on the beach.
Local street fairs are also fun to explore, with local crafts and foods.
