Teaching Qualifications and Experience
I am a qualified second level teacher - currently teaching communications, stable management and horsemanship - with a Masters degree in Social Anthropology and an International BA majoring in English. I have a number of years experience teaching literacy and numeracy to both teenagers and adults. I also taught ESOL here for a state programme here in Ireland and TEFL in Japan for the Japanese Board of Education.
Hobbies and Interests
I love working with horses and people - we have a small yard here at our home with one horse and two ponies. I am really interested in learning about other cultures and I greatly enjoy spending time with people from other countries. I love reading, drawing and spending time in nature.
Accommodation
The bedroom is a beautiful, bright room with two full length windows leading onto the verandah. It is just across the hall from the ground floor bathroom.
Excursions and Local Attractions
Co. Wicklow is known as the garden of Ireland - we are 35 minutes from Dublin city centre in a very scenic location within walking distance of the sea. Local attractions include Glendalough, Mount Usher Gardens, Powerscourt Gardens, The Wicklow Way and the Sugar Loaf Mountains. Dublin City is bursting with cultural activities and historic sites. There are any number of traditional pubs to visit - there is a market in the village every Saturday. Newcastle is a historic village and we live directly across from an old castle. Our house is a period residence with its own history - and my parents live a few minutes away on the remains of a Georgian estate (with walled gardens, tunnels and terraced lawns).
