Teaching Qualifications and Experience
I am a fully qualified Teacher of English as a Foreign Language, with a CELT qualification from the Centre of English Studies in Dublin. I hold a BA (Hons) Degree in Management (Police) and have a Hetac Level 8 Senior Investigating Officer's Certificate. I am a former senior Police Officer with a wide level of experience. Security Consultancy service. My broad experience in life helps me to share more with the students, all of whom have a great learning and cultural experience in my home. I have hosted students from France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and China for one to one tuition
Hobbies and Interests
I enjoy walking and trekking in the nearby Dublin and Wicklow Mountains and in the adjacent Phoenix Park. I like watching Rugby, Gaelic Football and Hurling. As a family, we love boating on the river Shannon and it's large lakes. I am interested in military history and enjoy reading for relaxation.
Accommodation
This is a nicely decorated single bedroom on the first floor at the rear of our house. It has a desk and chair with reading lamp and adequate shelving on the wall. A spacious built in double wardrobe with drawer space is situated in the room and large mirror on the wall. New orthopaedic mattress.
Excursions and Local Attractions
Our house is located within walking distance of Europe's largest man-made park, the Phoenix Park and is ideal for walking, running and general relaxation. We are situated just 20 minutes train journey from Dublin's City centre and just 8 minutes walk from the nearest train station. Dublin has an abundance of museums and historical buildings, many of which are free to access. I have an in depth knowledge pf the sites of interest and am available to share this on excursions and outings. I attend rugby and Gaelic football and hurling matches regularly and will be glad to accompany any of our visitors to these games. The Dublin and Wicklow mountains are within a one hour drive and I love bringing the more energetic visitor up those mountain treks. We own a very comfortable 6 berth cruiser which we use for our boating holidays and weekends on Irelands Inland waterways, e.g. River Shannon (longest river in British Isles) and it's major lakes. We are delighted to bring our visitors along.
